Comparing common equine dewormers

Before starting a deworming program your veterinarian should collect a stool sample to determine if your horse is carrying intestinal parasites and the magnitude of the infection. Resistance to dewormers is a very real issue, because of this a rotational program is often recommended. Based on your horses parasite burden and a seasonal rotation, your veterinarian will be able to determine the best parasite control program for your horse. Another service offered by Woodview Veterinary Clinic, is what we call our "Deworming Program". For a very reasonable fee, this program includes stool evaluations as often as you would like and a customized deworming schedule with the appropriate dose and type of dewormer mailed directly to you at the correct time. If you would like to enroll your horse in this program, please call our office today!
